Our Mission & Vision
As a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, The Prom Angels Foundation is dedicated to providing quality and social activities, which empowers the quality of life for our special needs communities.
Our History
Together, with the Knights of Columbus and the Hanson/Rockland Rotary, Grand Knight Kevin C. McKenna became co-founder of the non-profit organization, the Prom Angels Foundation. Kevin and his wife Hope are parents of four children, three with special needs. As such, Kevin was well aware of the need for social activities for the special needs population.
His idea was to host a formal prom for local high school students with disabilities, giving them a chance to engage with their peers in a safe and fun-filled environment. Interest in the special needs prom grew quickly, accommodating over 400 attendees, ages 16 to 61, and expanding beyond local towns.
In 2009, from more than 13,000 councils world wide, Grand Knight Kevin C.McKenna of the Pembroke Knights of Columbus was honored by receiving community awards at both the state and international levels for his role in establishing the Prom Angels Foundation.
In appreciation of the need for additional social events for those with special needs, the Prom Angels Foundation expanded to include an Annual Family Halloween Party. This event is open to all ages and welcomes all family members to join in the fun.
Throughout the years, we have been grateful for community support and our dedicated sponsors who have also made our Annual Fundraisers and Golf Tournaments a success. Continued success for the Prom Angels requires parent participation, volunteers, individual and corporate sponsors and donations.
With everyone’s help, the foundation will be able to fulfill our mission to Provide Dignity & Fun for People of ALL Abilities
